3 day (04.11.2020). Sighnaghi – Bodbe.
Departure by bus to the wine region of Georgia – Kakheti, accompanied by a Russian-speaking guide (duration 7 hours).
This excursion day we will begin with a visit to the current Bodbe Convent, a monastery where the enlightener of Georgia, St. Nina (IX century), rests.
Then we will go to the city of Sighnaghi – the city of love, music and art, visit the museum, which exhibited the works of the most famous Georgian artist Niko Pirosmani. The city is built in the style of South Italian classicism with Georgian elements and surrounded by a double wall with 28 towers. We will climb one of the towers … We will see a beautiful view – Alazani Valley on the background of snow-capped mountain peaks.
Then – free time for lunch (extra charge), after which we will go to the residence of the Georgian princes of the 19th century – the city of Tsinandali and visit the house-museum of Alexander Chavchavadze, who was the first in Georgia to establish wine production in the European style, look at his residence and take a walk around to the park.
Here we will be offered to taste 4 types of Georgian wine and chachi (tasting is included in the price).
Return to Tbilisi.
4 day (11/5/2020). Mtskheta-Tbilisi
Departure to Mtskheta accompanied by a Russian-speaking guide (duration 4 hours). Our tour starts with a visit to the 6th-century Holy Cross Church of the Jvari Monastery, which stands on a high mountain and was immortalized by Mikhail Lermontov in the poem “Mtsyri”. A beautiful panorama opens up from here on the confluence of two majestic rivers – Aragva and Kura and on the ancient capital of Georgia – Mtskheta. After we go down to Mtskheta, take a walk along the streets of the city and visit the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (Life-Giving Pillar of the 11th century), in which the greatest relic of all Christians is located – Christ’s tunic. Visiting Samtavro Monastery – a complex of Samtavro-Preobrazhensky Church and St. Nina Convent, located at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers.
After a walk we will go to a restaurant for lunch (included in the price), where you will be offered to taste the most famous national dishes of Georgia (khinkali, khachapuri, kharcho, barbecue) and drink Georgian wine.
Then we return to Tbilisi and visit the “Golden Market” where you can buy jewelry made of gold, silver, as well as such a popular Georgian enamel. Also, visit the famous “Agrarian Market” in Tbilisi, where you can buy famous Georgian condiments, churchkhela and many other delicacies, as well as the “Dry Bridge” (handmade paintings and souvenirs market, flea and book markets).
Return to the hotel. Free time.
