Gathering for a tour of the Avlabari metro, near the Tourist Hotel
Our tour starts with a visit to the 6th-century Holy Cross Church of the Jvari Monastery, which stands on a high mountain and was immortalized by Mikhail Lermontov in the poem “Mtsyri”. A beautiful panorama opens up from here on the confluence of two majestic rivers – Aragva and Kura and on the ancient capital of Georgia – Mtskheta.
After we go down to Mtskheta, take a walk along the streets of the city and visit the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (Life-Giving Pillar of the 11th century), which houses the greatest relic of all Christians – Christ’s Chiton.
Free time for lunch (extra charge) and souvenir shopping.
After Mtskheta we will go to the city of Gori, visit the Stalin Museum and the ancient cave city – Uplistsikhe, which means “Fortress of God” in Georgian. Uplistsikhe is one of the first cities on the territory of Georgia (end of II – beginning of I millennium BC).
After the excursion, return to Tbilisi.
The cost of the tour is 25 USD per person.
